Highlights of Christmas!

Isaac fell asleep at the dinner table after a long exciting day and no nap. He even fell asleep with his fork in one hand and his spoon in the other.

Opening Christmas presents was a lot of fun. Isaac loved ripping off the paper. And in his very enthusiastic and dramatic way he expressed his excitement for every gift. Craig andI aren't sure where his dramatic side came for but he his highly excitable, in a good way, which made Christmas a lot of fun.

His new bean bag chair is a hit!

Bring on the Sledding!

We have had snow at our house for a week now which has been a lot of fun. Craig feels like a little kid again at home in Montana. So, with the snow there has been a lot of sledding. It is the perfect year for us because this year Isaac LOVES to go sledding. He will go over and over again. He even does some of the hills by himself. He begs us to put his snowsuit, boots, and gloves on so he can go out in the snow, and go fast sledding. I wish you could hear how he says the word "fast" because it is so cute and hilarious at the same time. Most of his sledding has been with Craig because at 8 months pregnant it is not that easy for me to get bundled up and down on the sled (let alone trying to get back up once the ride is done). But one day I did borrow some warm clothes from Craig and another friend that were big enough to cover my belly and I hit the hills with them. It was quite fun I must say.
We pray you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas family and friends! We love and appreciate all of you and pray that you have a wonderful Christmas. We are having fun in the snow that has been at our house for the last week and seems to be sticking around for a while longer. Craig is very happy about this!!!! Soon I will post pictures of Isaac playing in the snow. He loves it, especially going fast on the sled!

Quick Update

Sorry to all for not updating in so long. Here is the scoop with what we have been up to lately. As of Thanksgiving, tree service work has been really slow for Craig which means that we have been blessed to be spending a lot of time together. Thankfully Craig is a pretty handy guy so he has been doing side jobs here and there to keep the bills payed. I wish he was home this much all the time. I love it! As the days and weeks pass my stomach grows and I get excited at the idea of seeing this new baby physically in our hands. We can't imagine how our life is going to change with two but we are excited to figure it out. And I am excited to not be pregnant anymore. This pregnancy has been much more difficult and draining on my body then with Isaac. But thankfully I know there will be an end to it and this child is definitely worth it! We are enjoying a new family tradition for Christmas this year. we were blessed to come upon a wonderful Advent book that we read each night. It works similar to the calendars in that every day we open a door and reveal more of the story of Christ's birth. Isaac is beginning to understand the story more since every day we start at door 1 again and read up to the current day. He loves the whole process and we have truly enjoyed being able to incorporate the reason for this season every day of the month. We pray this update finds all of you well and that you take the time to really reflect on the meaning of Christmas as individuals as well as with family and friends.

Isaac and Faith

Here are just a few pictures of Isaac and his cousin Faith while they were in town.

Theories from a 2 year old

Isaac has a mind like Craig. He likes to lnow how things work. We always see him trying to figure things out whether it is a physical or a mental challenge. Recently he has developed 2 theories that send Craig and I laughing hysterically every time he brings them up. The first theory was created a few weeks ago while we were having a thunder storm. It was quite stormy and the thunder was loud and it scared Isaac. So Craig and I sat with him trying to explain to him that there was nothing to be scared about because mommy and daddy and God were with him. Well that didn't comfort his fears so I (Jennifer) took a different approach. Idecided to relate the sound of the thunder to a not-so-scary similar sound. And what I came up with was that the thunder sounded like a big truck driving down the road in front of our house. As soon as I said that he looked at me as if a light had just come on in his head and said "God driving big truck, going bump, bump, bump." I tried to hold back the laughter as I explain to him that first of all it just sounded like a truck and second that God wasn't driving the truck, God was with him. But all of that explanation was lost because he was so excited to now know that thunder was not scary it was just God driving a big truck over bumps.
Isaac's second theory was developed as Craig and I have been talking about potty training. He has not been the least bit interested in even putting on the underwear. Well, the other day he randomly agreed to put the underwear on and Craig and I shot into action in efforts to encourage him to pee in the potty. After feeding him a lot of liquid and sitting on the potty off and on for 1.5 hrs nothing had happened. We knew it was coming soon so we were watching him closely. Needless to say he had his first accident and left a puddle of pee on our kitchen floor. After that he decided he was done with the underwear because "they make him pee on the floor". All the encouragement in the world was not enough to get him to put that underwear back on because he was just sure he would pee on the floor as soon as he put them on. So we are still working on this. As tiring and frustrating as Isaac can be as a two year old we love to laugh at all of the wonderful things he does and says. He keeps us on our toes every minute of every day.

Isaac's artistic side

Issac had a blast painting his pumpkin. Who knew we had such a budding artist on hand.

It's Fall!

We have had fun this fall doing all kinds of fun things. We were able to harvest lots of carrots from our Garden and apples from our mini orchard. Isaac enjoyed helping us peel, core and slice our apples for the dehydrator. We also had fun going to the pumpkin patch to find just the right pumpkin.

The Belly!

So here is the latest (well maybe I should say only) picture of the growing baby in my belly. I am 24 weeks along with 16 more to go. I seem to be carrying this baby just like I did Isaac, straight out and low. At this point I will grow out of my maternity clothes substatially before the baby is born. Yes, that is possible, I did it with Isaac. I must say it is quite amazing to try on maternity clothes and they are big with "lots" of room to grow and then realize a few months later that they are getting snug and small. As much as I joke about how big my belly is, it is one of my favorite parts of pregnancy. I love the crazy reactions people give me when they think I should be due soon and I tell them I am just over half way. I also love to feel the baby move. And this baby move A LOT!!! All of my regular check ups with my midwife have been going well and everything is looking good for a healthy baby. Thank you LORD for this wonderful blessing!

Big News!

We have learned that we are pregnant again. YEAH!!! So we will be expanding the Pratt family numbers in February. We are excited and trying to imagine what it will be like with another child. It is hard to imagine loving another child as much as we love Isaac, but I am told that you do so we can't wait. I am definitely looking forward to getting out of the morning sickness stage. It has made my everyday tasks and outings seem terribly undesirable. I am eating constantly and am pretty picky about my food. Thankfully there will be an end to the sickness. I just hope it is sooner than later.

The Circus!

Great-Grandma treated Isaac to his first trip to the circus. He had so much fun that he completely skipped his nap. He got to ride the ponies and an elephant. Since great-grandma is friends with the elephant trainer, after the circus we got to feed the elephants carrots.

All tuckered out

I just thought this was a cute picture. He was so tired and just crashed for his afternoon nap.

Strawberry Picking

We had a blast picking (and eating) strawberries. Isaac spent the entire time eating strawberries and waving at the tractor that shuttled people to the fields. We picked 20 lbs of strawberries. We now have a bunch of delicious freezer jam and frozen berries for smoothies or other delicious treats.

Boy and their toys!

Here is Isaac on his new tractor (just like daddy). Boy does he love tractors!

Flight Museum

We went to the flight museum for Father's Day. Isaac had a great time and enjoyed riding in any plane he was allowed to get in.

A New Park

We found a new park in neighboring town that Isaac and his friends had a lot of fun at. There was a petting farm, the normal park toys and a kids water park (and all for free!!!!)

I didn't know about the water park so I hadn't brought a change of clothes so we just stripped him down and let him go! He had fun running around in his boots and diaper as the water squirted up from the ground in different places.

A Day at Great-Grandma's House

We spent the day at my Grandma's (Isaac's Great Grandma) house while Craig cut down a big cedar tree at her house. We had fun playing and watching Craig cut down the tree through the second story window.

Camping!

On Memorial Day Weekend we were invited to go camping with some friends of ours. This was great because we would never plan far enough in advance get a camping spot on such a busy weekend. Anyways, we had our first camping weekend of the year. We camped last summer a couple of times but Isaac didn't remember that so it was a whole new experience for him. He played hard all day, got really dirty (I wish I had taken some pictures of that), and then slept like a log once we could finally convince him the day was over. He loved the tent, sleeping bag, flashlights, fire, and dirt which made the weekend pretty easy for us!

"Like dada"

Isaac has a new favorite phrase "Like Dada". Isaac absolutely loves Craig and wants to be a part of everything that he does. Craig loves having Isaac around and when he is home from work they do all kinds of things together. Here a re a few examples from the last couple of weeks.
Isaac loves to mow. When Craig uses the push mower Isaac follows right along with his toy mower. But outside the fence we use the riding lawn mower, or as Isaac calls it the "truck mower" , and Isaac loves to ride on Craig's lap.
Isaac wanted to help Craig work on the car. As you can see, his help is not always so helpful. But it is the thought that counts.

Vacation time!

We went on vacation to S California and visited the Grandparents, the Pratts and the Ushlers. We spent a lot of time relaxing. Here are a few fun pictures of things that we did do. We played in the pool!
We went to the zoo!
And we took a rotating tram in Palm Springs to the top of a Mtn. (I think it was Mt Jacinto???) At the top we hiked and enjoyed the beautiful view.

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Last weekend we went to see all of the tulips in bloom in the Skagit Valley. It was beautiful and the fields were a rainbow of colors. I think the highlight for Isaac was the wagon ride behind the tractor. He chased the tractor around the field until we finally let him go for a ride.

Chelan again!

We took another trip to Chelan to visit our great friend Jake. This time we took a several hour boat ride to a place called Stehekin on the north-west end of the lake. You can only get there by boat. It is an absolutely beautiful quaint town of about 80 residents at the base of the Cascade Mtns.

Craig at work

Here are a couple pictures of Craig at work. In this first picture you can see Craig just below the bushy top of the tree.

In this second picture I zoomed in and Craig has just taken out the top of the tree.

Spring Gardening

We have decided to make a vegetable garden at our house this year. So here are a couple picture of Isaac helping out in the garden. We plan to grow bell peppers, tomatoes, corn, carrots, lettuce, snap peas, green beans, strawberries, basil and cilantro. Craig and I don't know much about gardening so we will have to update you in a few months as to how much we actually are able to harvest.

This weekend's snow!

As crazy as it seems we got snow yesterday. About an inch. So when Craig got home from work Isaac and him set to work making a snow man. Isaac helped a little but soon realized that the snowball was too heavy so he just told Craig where to push it.

The New Haircut!

So here is a before and after of Issac's new haircut. We love the long shaggy hair but it was time for a cut. And Isaac definitely takes after his parents in having a lot of hair. So we know that in a couple of months his hair will be long and in in his eyes again!

Isaac in all his cuteness!

What can I say, CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!!!
